Quick specs

  • Model: 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV

  • Cargo: 16.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats, 57.0 with them folded

  • Efficiency: 120 MPGe combined (EPA)

  • Fast charging: up to about 55 kW. Chevrolet says up to 100 miles of range in 30 minutes.

  • Home / Level 2 charging: up to 11.5 kW. Public Level 2 chargers (J1772 plug) fit with no adapter.

  • Driver assist: Chevy Safety Assist, which includes automatic emergency braking and lane keep assist.

Who it's great for

  • Getting around Salem and the valley. Small enough to park anywhere, with range to spare.

  • Salem ↔ Portland trips. About an hour each way on I-5, well within one charge for the round trip.

  • First-time EV renters. It drives like a regular small car, just quieter.

  • Trips with your dog. Pets are welcome in this car.

  • Visitors and business trips. We can meet you at the Salem airport or around town.

  • Not the best fit for long road trips with lots of fast-charging stops. Its fast charging is slower than our Ioniq 5, EV6 or Tesla.

Charging while you rent

  • Any CCS fast charger works. The Bolt charges at up to about 55 kW, so a 50 kW charger is nearly as quick as a 350 kW one. In Salem: Electrify America at the Walmart on Lancaster Dr NE, EVgo at the Pilot on Brooklake Rd (I-5 exit 263), and bp pulse at the ARCO on Commercial St SE.

  • Tesla Superchargers: the Bolt can use many of them with GM's NACS DC adapter, paying in the myChevrolet app or the Tesla app. It's no faster there, so CCS stations are usually easier. Check your trip details in the Turo app to see if an adapter is in the car. Our guide explains how: Charging a non-Tesla at a Tesla Supercharger.

  • Level 2 is great for overnight. At up to 11.5 kW, a hotel or garage Level 2 charger refills it while you sleep.

  • Charging costs and return battery level: check your trip details in the Turo app.

First-time Bolt tips

  1. The key. The key is in a lockbox on the car. Check your trip details in the Turo app for how to open it. Keep the key with you while you drive.

  2. Starting it. Foot on the brake, press the power button.

  3. Shifting. The shifter on the center console uses labeled buttons and pull switches for P, R, N and D. Press P to Park.

  4. One Pedal Driving. Press the One Pedal Driving button by the shifter. Now the car slows down, and can stop, when you lift off the accelerator. Use the brake for quick or hard stops. Press the button again to turn it off.

  5. Regen on Demand. Pull and hold the paddle on the left side of the steering wheel to slow down without touching the brake. Let go to coast again.

  6. No app needed. You don't need the myChevrolet app to drive.

  7. Pets welcome. Bring your dog along.

  8. Returning it. Grab your things and follow the return steps in your trip details in the Turo app.

FAQ

How far can I go on one charge?

The EPA estimate is 259 miles. At freeway speeds in cold, rainy weather, plan on less. The car shows your remaining range on the dash.

Can it use Tesla Superchargers?

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, pets are welcome.

What if the battery gets low?
