Who it's great for

  • Getting around Salem. Downtown, the waterfront, errands and dinner. Parking is a breeze.

  • Short day trips around the Willamette Valley.

  • Couples and solo travelers with light luggage.

  • Trips with your dog. Pets are welcome in this car.

  • Visitors staying in town. We can meet you at the Salem airport or around town.

  • Not the best fit for the coast or long highway trips. The range is short, and you'd spend a lot of time charging. For those, ask about our Tesla Model 3, Kia EV6 or Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Charging while you rent

  • Level 2 is this car's best friend. Plug in overnight at your hotel, or while you shop or eat, and it's full in about 4 hours.

  • CCS fast chargers work too. In Salem: Electrify America at the Walmart on Lancaster Dr NE, EVgo at the Pilot on Brooklake Rd (I-5 exit 263), and bp pulse at the ARCO on Commercial St SE. The MINI tops out at 50 kW, so any fast charger is about as quick as another.

  • No Tesla Superchargers. MINI says the Cooper SE isn't compatible with Superchargers through an adapter, so stick to CCS and Level 2 chargers. More in our guide: Charging a non-Tesla at a Tesla Supercharger.

  • Heading to Portland? It's about 47 miles each way, so plan a top-up before you head back.

  • Charging costs and return battery level: check your trip details in the Turo app.

First-time MINI tips

  1. The key. The key is in a lockbox on the car. Check your trip details in the Turo app for how to open it. Keep the key with you while you drive.

  2. Starting it. Foot on the brake, flip the red Start/Stop toggle switch in the row of switches below the center screen.

  3. Shifting. Use the gear lever on the center console for Drive and Reverse. Press the P button to Park.

  4. Regen braking. The car slows itself when you lift off the accelerator. A toggle switch next to the Start/Stop switch picks strong or gentle slowing.

  5. Watch the range. With a small battery, check the range on the dash before longer drives, and top up when you can.

  6. Pets welcome. Bring your dog along.

  7. Returning it. Grab your things and follow the return steps in your trip details in the Turo app.

FAQ

How far can I go on one charge?

The EPA estimate is 114 miles. At freeway speeds in cold, rainy weather, plan on less. It's best for in-town driving and short trips.

Can it use Tesla Superchargers?

No. MINI says the Cooper SE isn't compatible with Superchargers through an adapter. Use CCS fast chargers (Electrify America, EVgo, bp pulse) or Level 2 chargers.

Can I take it to the coast?

It's too far for a round trip on one charge. For coast days, we suggest our Tesla Model 3, Kia EV6 or Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Can you deliver the car?

Yes. We deliver around Salem, including the Salem airport. You'll see the delivery options on the Turo listing when you book.

Can I bring my dog?
